Sorry that I’ve been crap at posting this year. BUT if you are in Michigan or Ohio, make sure to grab a copy of AADL’s A2Caf comic this Saturday, aka FREE COMIC BOOK DAY! I’ve got a silly two page comic in it that I’m quite fond of, make sure to give it a read!
Turns out a Steam Train Engine is an actual TRAIN, as his mother was kind enough to clear up for me.
I got to spend Free Comic Book Day at the Berkeley Library North Branch with Thien Pham, and it was the BEST. I never just sit down to draw superheroes and ender dragons, and I loved meeting so many kids who were so invested in comics.
Also, I will draw toothless the dragon for tiny children until my hands fall off.
Sam and I went camping! Here's the comic I made while we were there
Coincidentally, four incredibly awesome things have happened/are happening this week!
FIRST: One of my drawings made it into Friday Magazine!
I did a drawing for the amazingly ecofriendly and talented Kathryn Kellogg of Going Zero Waste, and the french magazine Friday ran an article about her and included my illustration! She's so damn inspiring, you should probably go check out her blog right now.
SECOND: I got interviewed about comics for the Faster Than the World Social Podcast!
Faster than the World Social is a blog/podcast about anything and everything. Ryan, the creative mind behind it all, invited me on for a chat after picking up some of my comics at ECCC. It was insanely fun, and I got to talk how I got started in comics and nerd out for a good half hour. You can check out that interview here (and this goes mostly without saying, but does my voice really sound like that)
THIRD: I'll be at the Escapist drawing stick figures for FREE COMICS DAY!
That's right, from 1:30 to whenever the store ends up closing. So if you ever wondered what you would look like as a stick figure, look no further. The mystery ends on Saturday.
FOURTH (and most exciting): THE CCA MINI COMICS FAIR IS THIS SUNDAY!!
My students are selling their mini comics for the first time, and if you're in the neighborhood I would LOVE for you to stop by and partake in their awesome wares. Seriously, these kids are crazy talented and I'm so proud of what they've done. Also, look at the bitching poster they made!
This week has been pretty great, and I get to spend the WHOLE WEEKEND in a comic book shop. What a great way to end the semester.
